Q10. The speeds of the scooter, car and train are in the ratio of 1 : 4 : 16. If all of them cover equal distance the ratio of time taken/velocity for each of the vehicle is:
a)  256 : 16 : 1 (b) 1 : 4 : 16 (c) 16 : 4 : 1 (d) 16 : 1 : 4 (e) None

Solution:

1.Sol: E
Cost of Tv = 105/1.25 = 84 Rs.
Cost of Lappy = 70/1.4 = 50 Rs.
Total Profit = 20%
Total Cost = 200/1.2 = 500/3
Cost of Mouse = (500/3) – 84-50 = Rs. 98/3
Hence Loss on Mouse = [(98/3)-25] / (98/3) * 100 = 23.4

2. Sol: B
Referring to previous
Cost of Mouse = 25/0.50 = 50
Total cost = 84 + 50 + 50 = Rs.184
Total sale = Rs.200
Profit = (200 – 184)/184 * 100 = 8.7%

3. Sol: C
Amount at the end of the 1st year after repayment = 6000 × 1.05 – 1200 = Rs 5,100.
Therefore, amount at the beginning of the 2nd year will be Rs 5,100.
Amount at the end of the 2nd year after repayment = 5,100 × 1.05 – 1200 = Rs 4,155.
Therefore, amount at the beginning of the 3rd year will be Rs 4,155.

4. Sol: E
 Let radius (in cm) of a smaller sphere be ‘r’.
Volume of the larger sphere = Total volume of 1000 smallerspheres
4/3 π(10)3 = r = 1 cm
Surface area of the larger sphere= 4π(10)2 = 400π cm2
Total surface area of 1000 smaller spheres
= 1000 × 4π(1)2 = 4000π cm2
Therefore, increase in the surface area of the metal= 4000 π – 400 π = 3600 π = 9 × 400 π cm2
Hence, surface area of the metal is increased by 9 times.

5.Sol: C
The average of 7 consecutive numbers will be the 4th number in the sequence.
Let the 4th number be x.
When the next 3 numbers are also added, the average will
be the mean of the 5th and the 6th of the sequence = (2x+3)/2 = x+1.5
Hence, the average shall increase by 1.5.

6. Sol: C
Let the cost price of each article be Re.1 and selling price of each article be Rs.x.
S.P. of 100 articles = C.P of 100 articles + Profit
=100x = 100 + 75x
=25x = 100 or x = 4
Profit = 4-1 /1 *100 = 300%

7. Sol: B
Total time spent in Mathematics home work
Time spent in home work / 3
= [45/360 * 24] / 3 = 1 Hr.
Time spent on remaining subject = 3-1 = 2hr

8. Sol: A
Due to 20% reduction in price, the person can save Rs.48 and hence can purchase 6 kg extra sugar. Therefore, new cost of sugar
48/6 = 8
As this new price is 20% less than the original price, original
price of sugar is
8/0.8 = 10

9. Sol: B

             A         15       15       1

            B          7.5                  2

11+2x = 15
2x = 4
X = 2.

10. Sol: A
d/y,    d/4y,    d/16y
1:1/(4*4):1/(16*16)
256:16:1
