A) 12 sec
B) 18 sec
C) 14 sec
D) 25 sec
E) None of these

Solution:

Q1. SOL: A

CI at the end of 1st year = 1200 *( 1+(12 /100)) = 1344
CI= 1344-1200 = 144
500 paid then remaining amount = 1344 – 500 = 844
At the end of  2nd year
844*[(1+(12/100)] =945.2

Q2. SOL:   B

Principal = Rs.400 Amount = Rs 100 x 6 = Rs 600
Interest = Rs 600 - Rs 400 = Rs 200
Time = 6 months = 6/12 years
200= 400×1×𝑟/2×100
𝑟 = 440×100/400 =100%

Q3. SOL:    A

Time taken will be same when both meet log will flow with speed of river flow so, 100/(12+4)+(100−𝑥)/(12−4)=𝑥/4
100/16+(100−𝑥)/8=𝑥/4
100+200−2𝑥/16=𝑥/4
1200−8𝑥=16𝑥
1200=24𝑥
           𝑥=50 km

Q4. SOL:   E

Let cost of pure rice per kg is 10 Rs.
So cost of impure rice per kg is 4 Rs.
Total cost for the shopkeeper
= 12 × 10 + 4 × (4 + 4)
= 120 + 32
= 152 Rs.
Total selling price=10/100×120×16=192
Required percentage=40/152×100 =500/19%

Q5. SOL:  C

1/10 + 1/15 – 1/x = 1/10
x = 15
15 * 30 = 450

Q6. SOL:   A

In 2 minutes the part of the cistern filled = [(1/20) + (1/30)] = (5/60) = (1/12)
:.(1/12) part of cistern is filled in 2 minutes
1 part of the cistern will be full in = (12×2) = 24 minutes

Q7. SOL:   C

Milk : 63 × (3/7) = 27lit
Water : 63 × (4/7) =36lit
Milk in 14 lit mixture = 14 × (3/7) = 6lit
New mixture = (63 – 14 + 6) = 55 lit
Milk in new mix = 27 – 6 = 21
% of milk in the mix = (21/55) × 100 = 38.18% = 38%

Q8. SOL:   A

Explanation – Loss% = X^2/100=(3)^2/100 %  =0.09%

Q9. SOL:   B

Let the length of the train be x metres.
Then, the train covers x metres in 8 seconds (train is actually covering itself because length of man is very less compartable to train)and (x + 180) metres in 20 seconds.
equate speed in both case,s=d/t
x/8 =( x + 180) / 20 20x = 8(x + 180) x = 120.
Length of the train = 120 m.
Speed of the train = [120/8]m/sec (convert to km/hr i.e x 18/5)
=[120/8] x 18/5kmph = 54 kmph.

Q10. SOL:   A

Speed of the first train = [120 / 10] m/sec = 12 m/sec.
Speed of the second train = [120 / 15] m/sec = 8 m/sec.
Relative speed = (12 + 8) = m/sec = 20 m/sec.
Required time = (120 + 120) / 20 secc = 12 sec
