2021 census data to be stored electronically:

  • The data collected during the 2021 Census will be stored electronically, the first time since the decennial exercise was conducted in 1951 in Independent India.
  • The decision for saving data electronically was notified by the Registrar General of India (RGI) on 19 June.
  • According to a rule amended by the Registrar General of India (RGI) on 19 June, the data collected during the 2021 Census will be stored electronically for the first time since the decennial census began in Independent India in 1951.

India To Host International Union of Food Science and Technology 2018: 

  • The International Union of Food Science and Technology (IUFoST), the global voice of food science and technology in association with Indian National Science Academy (INSA) as adhering body, announced the 19th edition of its prestigious global event to be held in Navi Mumbai, India from October 23-27, 2018.
  • The focal theme for this edition of the prestigious congress is 25 Billion Meals a Day by 2025 with Healthy, Nutritious, Safe and Diverse Foods. 

Delhi Government Launches ‘Happiness Curriculum’ For School Students: 

  • The Delhi government launched 'Happiness Curriculum' for school students up to class 8. The Dalai Lama, several government officials, students and teachers were present at the event. 
  • It was designed and prepared by a team of 40 Delhi government teachers, educators and volunteers over a period of six months.

AMC, steering panels to be set up for faster resolution of NPAs: FM

  • Impartial asset administration corporations (AMCs) and steering committees might be arrange for sooner decision of unhealthy loans within the banking system, finance minister Piyush Goyal stated as the federal government accepted five-pronged plan of the Sunil Mehta-panel.

  • Andrés Manuel López Obrador has been elected as Mexico's President with over 53% of the vote, according to the country's electoral commission.
  • The 64-year-old former Mexico City mayor will formally take power on December 1.

  • Finance Minister Piyush Goyal has said that independent asset management companies (AMCs) and steering committees will be set up for faster resolution of the non-performing assets (NPAs), or bad loans, of state-run banks.

Bharti Infratel gets CCI nod for merger with Indus Towers:

  • The Bharti Infratel, a mobile infrastructure company, has got the the approval of competition watchdog Competition Commission of India (CCI) for merging its operations with Indus Towers.
  • Bharti Infratel and Vodafone jointly own 42% stake each in Indus Towers. Idea Cellular holds 11.5% stake and the rest held by Providence.

  • Senior bureaucrat Saraswati Prasad has taken over the additional charge as chairman and managing director of steel PSU Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL)

Vijay Srinivas appointed Director & GM of United India Insurance

  • K B Vijay Srinivas has been appointed the Director & General Manager of United India Insurance Company Ltd, a leading non-life insurance company in India from July 1, 2018.
  • Srinivas, in his 37 years of service, has also contributed articles in journals of insurance, tax and other subjects.

  • Mumbai’s Victorian and Art Deco architecture buildings in the Fort precinct and on Marine drive have earned the prestigious UNESCO heritage label.
  • After Elephanta Caves and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), now Mumbai’s Victorian and Art Deco buildings in the Fort area have been declared a Unesco World Heritage Site
